Jane Eyre is an orphan who grows up with a cruel aunt and cousins who mistreat her. Later, she is sent to Lowood School, where life is harsh, but she receives education and learns discipline. As a young woman, Jane becomes a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the mysterious Mr. Rochester, her employer.

Jane and Rochester fall in love, but their wedding is interrupted when a dark secret is revealed: Rochester already has a wife, who is mentally ill and kept hidden in the attic. Shocked and heartbroken, Jane leaves Thornfield and struggles alone, facing poverty and despair.

Later, she inherits money from a relative and gains independence. When she returns to Rochester, she finds him blind and injured after a fire that destroyed Thornfield. Despite his condition, Jane marries him, and together they find happiness based on equality, respect, and true love.
